A New Concept...

Hi Everyone.

I have a new prototype completed for my Herald Pen.

This is still a prototype.  I have a few issues to work out with the pen, but it shouldn't be long before I can offer this concept on any pen.

The inlaid grooves will be available in any color, so this really opens up a lot of creative possibilities.

Stay tuned, as this pen concept should materialize into something that I am confident to go into production with very soon.

Thanks,
Brian

Thomas W. Spinrad's Gravatar I find the gold band at the section a little disconcerting. Either it has to go (my preference) or the adjoining red ring has to go. I think that this would look better with a plain gold nib. Too bad the Bexley is two tone.

Brian's Gravatar Thanks for the comments.

Unfortunately, the gold ring cannot be eliminated yet. It is integral to the threads. But I will be upgrading equipment sometime and this will allow me to get rid of the gold band.

I am also experimenting with different placements of the infilled grooves...stay tuned.

Thomas W. Spinrad's Gravatar Perhaps another red band immediately adjacent to the gold band? Hidden by the cap when closed... It needs something to balance the gold band.

Thomas W. Spinrad's Gravatar Anyway I want one when you go into production.

Thomas W. Spinrad's Gravatar Is it my imagination or is the pen body on the moss green acrylic Herald

more pointed that the pen body on the Antique gold Herald body?

Brian Gray's Gravatar Yes. The profile on each pen can be customized.

Each pen is created one at a time, and I create the profile by eye as I go.

So if you are interested in a pen, any profile can be done...pointed, bulbous, etc....

Abhik's Gravatar Hi Brian, with new sections in ebonite, I think you are almost perfected Herald. Though I feel it's a bit longer! Anyway, can now you remove the gold ring and make threads on body?

Brian Gray's Gravatar The gold ring cannot be eliminated yet. That ring is integral to the threads.

However, that is a goal of mine, and I should be able to get rid of the ring sometime in the spring, I would guess.

Andy's Gravatar I am probably in a minority, but I like the gold ring!

Tytyvyllus's Gravatar When you get rid of the gold ring I'd love to have something like a Dani Trio Mikado done in green black ebonite with a red/black section. A long and squat pen without any metal on the outside. Just something that looks like it is meant to write.

MYU's Gravatar Very nice looking pen. The red ring at the bottom end has an unmistakable echo of Rotring, which I like. The gold ring looks nice, but I imagine you could also use a matte black treated ring for a more subdued look. I would eliminate the red ring on the section end, though. With the pen capped, it looks like there are too many of them.

Brian at Edison's Gravatar My apologies, Steve.

Lately, all of my time has been working on the interior of my shop, and pens have slowed down.

http://edisonpen.com/page.cfm/Shop-Project

I'll be back to my regular schedule with pens in about a month, and then the broadcasts will be more regular.

I'll go change the verbiage on the webcam page now.

And actually, at noon today, I'll be out broadcasting if you'd like to tune in.
