Nib Customizations
The Edison Pen Company is proud to offer in-house nib customizations with fast turnaround of usually one week.
This service is only for Edison Pens. I do not offer these services for pens made by other manufacturers.
When shipping your pens, please package your pen carefully. I recommend insurance. The US Post Office will generally ship a pen fully insured for around $7. I will not be responsible for any damage incurred to pens during transit to my shop.
If you are shipping a pen to me, please email in advance with your specific pen type, services requested, and I'll send out shipping instructions.
When purchasing services listed below, please add any comments that will give me your specific nib preferences in regards to flow, feedback, smoothness, etc.
Rates and services are as follows. Email me with any questions.
Regrind to Fine. This will require a medium or broad nib to begin with.
Regrind to Extra Fine. This will require a fine, medium, or broad nib to begin with.
Regrind to Crisp Italic. Please note that a crisp italic is a very crisp nib that offers lots of line variation, but tends to not be as smooth. This nib is generally not for a beginner.
Regrind to Cursive Italic. A cursive italic is between a crisp italic and a stub. It offers a little less line variation than a crisp italic, and is smoother.
Regrind to Stub. A stub is the smoothest of the italic nibs. It offers less line variation than a cursive italic, and is smoother.
Add Flex. Adding flex is a method of thinning the metal to allow the tines to spread with pressure, giving line variation as you press. PLEASE NOTE - This is not for every nib. I find that 18k nibs do not react as well as 14k nibs. An 18k nib will have nice flex, but will generally be a wet writer. Please email me with specifics about your nib before selecting this option.
